Portugal Madeira Wedding Photographer Elopement
Flyne & Billy
Madeira Island / Portugal
Flyne and Billy are from California, USA and they love mountain biking. That is why they choose Madeira as their Elopement destination. They’re extremely genuine and easy-going individuals who have found each other and share the love for outdoor activities and much more.
As I am also a mountain bike enthusiast and Madeira Island has been on my bucket list for quite some time now I was very excited when I got their inquiry for Madeira wedding photography. Our plan was to do some shuttle rides the first day and elopement the next. The day we spent together riding the amazing trails with Freeride Madeira was absolutely fantastic! We had a local expert guide who showed us the best trails around the capital city Funchal and a van with a trailer to shuttle us back to the top of the city.
We were lucky enough to ride in every terrain possible… From morning mist, to rain, mud, slippery roots to bone dry trails, leaving you in the dust. You often start riding at 1800m of altitude and drop right to about 500m, so you can experience two climate extremes. You notice this especially when you’re driving in the van and it shows pleasant 22 degrees celsius near the city and 10 degrees when you reach the Parque Natural da Madeira, which is kind of the hub to start trail riding near Funchal.
Madeira is extremely diverse and a truly beautiful island with extremely pleasant locals. As I was in Portugal before I knew I wont be disappointed with local cuisine. Portuguese food is out of this world and I can’t recommend for you to visit Madeira if you’re a foodie.
For elopement location we choose Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse, situated on the western side of Madeira Island, which is often the most lovely place to watch the sunset. Luckily, on the day we did the shoot, there was almost no tourists around, so the whole ceremony was very intimate and relaxed. We had great weather, temperature and sunlight and images represent this quite well.
Madeira, a small island located off the coast of Portugal, is a true paradise for those looking to elope. With its stunning natural beauty, breathtaking views, and secluded locations, it’s no wonder that more and more couples are choosing to tie the knot in this idyllic destination. If you’re looking for a Madeira wedding photographer, look no further than Tomaz Kos Weddings.
I had the pleasure of photographing Flyne and Billy’s elopement at the Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse. This location, located on the westernmost point of the island, is known for its breathtaking sunsets and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean. The couple flew all the way from California, USA, with their mountain bikes, and we spent the day before their elopement exploring the island’s rugged terrain and taking in the stunning scenery with a local guide from Freeride Madeira.
The ceremony itself was intimate and personal, with only the couple and myself in attendance. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect, with the lighthouse casting a warm glow on the couple as they exchanged vows at sunset. The whole experience was truly magical, and I was honored to be a part of it.
