Italy / Tuscany / Volterra / Villa Le Capanne

Julia & Jon

Nestled among the rolling hills of Tuscany, Villa Le Capanne provided the perfect setting for a relaxed destination wedding weekend in Volterra. Friends and family travelled from Canada to celebrate together, turning a beautiful May weekend into a memorable gathering filled with laughter, great food and meaningful moments.

The celebrations began with a welcome dinner the evening before the wedding, giving guests the opportunity to reconnect, settle into the Tuscan countryside and enjoy the atmosphere before the big day. The following afternoon, everyone gathered once again at Villa Le Capanne for a heartfelt outdoor ceremony, followed by aperitivo, dinner and dancing beneath the Italian sky.

This was my first time photographing a wedding at Villa Le Capanne and I immediately understood why couples choose it. Surrounded by nature and overlooking the Tuscan landscape, it offers everything that makes destination weddings in Italy so appealing: beautiful scenery, warm hospitality and an effortless sense of relaxation.

Welcome Party

The wedding weekend began with a relaxed welcome dinner at Villa Le Capanne. Guests arrived from different parts of the world and spent the evening catching up, sharing stories and enjoying the first sunset of the weekend together in the Tuscan countryside.

Wedding Morning

The wedding day started quietly inside the villa, where both sides prepared for the celebration ahead. With the rolling hills of Tuscany surrounding the property, the atmosphere felt calm and unhurried as the final details came together.

Ceremony

Guests gathered outdoors for a heartfelt ceremony overlooking the Tuscan landscape. Surrounded by family and friends, the couple exchanged vows during a warm spring afternoon, creating a moment that felt both intimate and joyful.

Aperitivo & Portraits

Following the ceremony, everyone enjoyed aperitivo while the newlyweds spent a little time together exploring the grounds of Villa Le Capanne. The soft evening light and peaceful surroundings provided a perfect backdrop for relaxed portraits.

Dinner in Tuscany

As the sun slowly disappeared behind the hills, guests took their seats for dinner. Long tables, Italian cuisine and conversations shared among friends and family created the kind of atmosphere that makes destination weddings in Tuscany so special.

Cake & Dancing

After dinner came cake, music and a lively evening celebration. What began as a relaxed wedding day gradually transformed into a packed dance floor, carrying the energy well into the night.

Thank you for taking the time to view this wedding at Villa Le Capanne.

Tuscany remains one of my favourite places in Europe to photograph weddings, combining beautiful landscapes, incredible food and a relaxed atmosphere that encourages people to be fully present.

If you’re planning a destination wedding in Tuscany, elsewhere in Italy, or anywhere across Europe, I would love to hear more about your plans.
