A relaxed golden-hour celebration at Ktima Akrani – a scenic Greece destination wedding on the island of Kos.
Aegean Sea / Greece / Kos island / Ktima Akrani Winery
Abbie & Oliver
A late-September destination wedding on the Greek island of Kos was the perfect way to end my 2025 season. The celebration took place at Ktima Akrani, a beautiful winery overlooking the Aegean Sea, surrounded by warm weather, soft evening light and the relaxed atmosphere Greece is known for.
The couple and their guests travelled from the UK, gathering with around 30 of their closest people for an intimate, heartfelt celebration. I covered seven hours of their day, starting at Xenos Villa 1 in Tigaki, where the bride and her family were preparing with a local hair and makeup artist. The villa offered the ideal calm setting – simple, bright and just minutes away from the venue.
This wedding also marked the end of my autumn travel season. After photographing a celebration in Bordeaux the week before, I travelled to Kos with my girlfriend for a short break. We explored the island, rented a scooter, enjoyed the beaches and sunshine – a much-needed recharge before capturing this final destination wedding of the year.
Ceremony
The ceremony took place a bit after 5, timed perfectly with the warm Greek light. Set among vineyards and open views of the landscape, the ambience felt natural and effortlessly romantic. Guests arrived earlier in the afternoon, and the groom made his way to the venue with his best man, setting the tone for a relaxed and emotional gathering.
Cocktail hours and portraits
After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed a laid-back cocktail hour with canapés and local flavours. We used this time for relaxed portraits around the winery – among the vines, warm stone walls and the expansive views that Ktima Akrani is known for. Nothing rushed, nothing posed – just natural, easy moments.
Dinner & speeches
As the sun dipped lower, guests moved to the dinner setting, where the couple made their entrance before the groom’s speech. Dinner followed, with more speeches later in the evening and a traditional cake cutting before the first dance. The atmosphere stayed joyful, intimate and full of energy as the open bar and music continued into the night.
Closing moments
Their first dance under warm lights marked the beginning of a lively evening. From start to finish, the entire day reflected the ease and charm of a Greek island celebration – simple, authentic and full of heart.
If you’re dreaming of a Greece destination wedding, whether in Kos, Santorini, Paros or any other island, I would love to capture your story with the same natural and relaxed approach.
Thank you for viewing this Kos destination wedding. If you’re planning a celebration anywhere in Greece, feel free to reach out.
